The project involved the supply and maintenance of the required earthmoving fleet of equipment and competent personnel to move over 300,000m3 of material to construct the interim tailing dam wall embankment.
- WTC was engaged to deliver an interim tailing dam wall to store tailing produce while the construction of a new dam wall was completed.
- 25,668 hours completed on site with zero reportable incidents.
Key scope elements included:
- A staged approach was undertaken with additional lifts added to the embankment to meet the requirements of the operation.
- Foundation preparation including desilting of 100,000m3 of unsuitable material.
- 200,000m3 of material was required to construct the Interim tailings dam wall embankment.
- Desilting and water management works.
- Haul road construction and maintenance.
- Applying material in layers and compacting it to meet specified requirements.
- Use of GPS machine control to achieve the designed level and tolerances.
