Kamilaroi Highway (HW29) Flood Immunity Pavement and Drainage Works

Project Overview


The project involved the construction of flood immunity pavement and new pipe culverts under the Kamilaroi Highway approximately 10km north-west of Quirindi.


  • WTC was engaged to install a new triple cell pipe culvert in a causeway and pavement build up to avoid flooding of this section of road.
  • The project accommodated significant daily traffic movements, including the coordination of Over Size and Over Mass loads, with minimal disturbance to traffic flow.


Key scope elements included:

  • Installation of temporary culverts and a temporary diversion road.
  • Installation of several new 1200mm pipe culverts.
  • Placement of drainage cells in the main alignment.
  • Construction of the main alignment pavement.
  • Application of a two-coat seal.
  • Reinstatement of delineators (line markings, guideposts, barriers and pavement markers).
  • Removal of the temporary diversion road and rehabilitatation of the area
